Diamonds are extremely delightful and special for women. Diamonds are elegant, precious, luxurious and refined. Raw diamond is not a feast to look at but once the beautiful gems are cut and extracted, the diamond becomes an amazing tool that captures beauty at its finest. It is a painstaking process to find the perfect diamond. Not all these pieces are exactly the same. Some have their hidden flaws from within and these flaws tend to lessen the value of the diamond. Diamonds undergo a variety of processes to see if each of these pieces is of the highest value. Gemologists use a tool to properly categorize the diamonds based on the number and severity of these flaws. Clarity is part of the 4 Cs of diamonds and this pertains to the external and internal aspects and flaws found on the diamond.
There is a variety of flaws that could be found on a diamond. The most common of these flaws is pin point which is a minute white dot that is found on the surface of the diamond. This kind of flaw can be easily fixed by polishing the diamonds. Another kind of flaw found on the diamond is a carbon. This is present less frequently than the pin point and these are black dots on the diamond. The feather is a minute crack inside the diamond. In very minute cases, it is not a real threat. However, if the crack is very big, it could cause the diamond to break in the future. Cloud is a hazy condition inside the diamond and it is often caused by minute crystal formations inside. The bigger ones make it look like there is diamond inside a diamond.

All these kinds of flaws are most of the time microscopic and it requires a real expert to see these very minute flaws. The gauge is used to classify the diamonds from flawless to imperfect. Using microscopes with a magnification of 10, each diamonds are checked from top to bottom. The highest rating is FL which means flawless. This is the rarest of them all. The next is IF and it is internally flawless since it has external issues that can be fixed by polishing. The next ones are have flaws in them and need microscopes. VSS1, VSS2, V S1, VS2, S1 and S2 are the following ratings. The most flawed is I1- I3 and it means that the flaws can be seen by the naked eye. Once the diamond has been rated, it will be priced accordingly.
